Masons Pink Grapefruit

MASONS Cucumber and grapefruit gin

Best refreshing flavoured gin

This is a citrusy and refreshing twist on a juniper-forward dry Yorkshire gin. We like it served over ice with tonic water and a slice of fresh grapefruit. Masons of Yorkshire uses Harrogate spring water to create its super smooth gins, to which the pink grapefruit brings lively zesty notes and the cucumber adds a cool, crisp and sweet finish.

Boatyard Double Gin

Boatyard Double Gin

This smooth, juniper-led gin lives up to its classy label. It has a hint of floral sweetness thanks to the wild sweet gale that’s foraged from Boatyard’s farm in Fermanagh. Its botanicals include grains of paradise and angelica, making it well suited to a gin and tonic with a twist of orange peel or juniper berries.

Holyrood Distillery Height of Arrows gin

Height of Arrows Gin

Many gins have a whole host of botanicals contributing to their flavour profiles, but this offering if markedly different. This striking, minimalist spirit uses just three: juniper, sea salt and beeswax. The results are excitingly complex, elegant and refined: clean, refreshing piney juniper, lemon peel and woody herbs, with an oily mouthfeel and hint of pepperiness. We like this neat over ice, or used in a martini with a lemon twist.

Audemus Umami oak finished gin

A bottle of Audemus Umami gin

Best unusual savoury gin

Named after the fifth taste this gin may be a Marmite affair for those with a sweeter tooth, but we loved it. With some fairly unusual botanicals including Italian capers and Parmigiano Reggiano, it could easily have been over the top, but instead this is a moreishly savoury gin. There's a subtle briny twang and woody notes that come from ageing in ex-cognac barrels.

Aviation American gin

Aviation American gin

Darnley's Spiced Gin

Darnley’s Spiced Gin

Perfect paired with ginger ale, this spiced gin has notes of juniper, cloves and grains of paradise. It's not as punchy as some of the other gins on this list, so if you have a tendency to find spiced gins overpowering, this is a brilliant subtle option.

This gin is a great winter warmer, perfect for a Christmas gift or just a tipple as the nights draw in. It's a well-balanced gin with exotic, spicy botanicals that make it warming and easy to drink. Try it paired with tonic water and a slice of fresh ginger.

The Botanist Islay Dry Gin

The Botanist Gin

The Botanist London Dry gin is all about hand-foraged local botanicals including angelica root, apple mint and bog myrtle leaves, resulting in a bottle that uniquely expresses the Scottish island. We'd recommend pairing it with tonic water garnished with either a sprig of rosemary of a wedge of grapefruit.

Tanqueray Blackcurrant Royale

Tanqueray Blackcurrant Royale

Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin

Best Australian Gin

Paired perfectly with tonic water and a wedge of orange, this gin is made in the Australia's Yarra Valley and combines native botanicals (Tasmanian pepperberry and lemon myrtle) with spices and whole oranges. Expect juniper and other traditional gin flavourings, but the regional twists add depth and interest.

In 2009 the first new licence to distill in London since 1820 was granted to Sipsmith Independent Spirits and since then a wave of new gin distilleries have followed. This is its original recipe – a bold, complex and aromatic gin with a floral nose followed by dry juniper and citrus on the palate.

Engine gin

A can of Engine Pure Organic Gin

Best citrusy Italian gin

Engine has striking, playful packaging which is unsurprising once you learn its founder, Paolo Dalla Mora, is a former marketing director for Italian fashion brand Moschino. It’s a bright, accessible gin that delivers on its aesthetic appeal with fresh, super-aromatic notes of lemon peel, piney juniper and herbaceous sage.

Hensol Castle Welsh Dry Gin

Hensol Castle welsh dry gin

Best Welsh award-winning gin

From a distillery based in historic Hensol Castle in Wales, this gin is juniper-led with a floral backbone. This is thanks to botanicals of lavender, marigold and jasmine which are picked from the gardens surrounding the distillery. This gin was named best gin in Wales at the 2023 World Gin Awards, and is lovely as a classic G&T with a lemon twist.

Brecon Botanicals Gin

Brecon Beacons Gin

Best Welsh gin for a G&T

Distilled with water from the Brecon Beacons National Park, this gin has notes of wildflowers with fresh citrus, balanced with warming spices, including cinnamon and cloves. It’s got plenty of body so would stand up well in a classic gin and tonic with a robust garnish like a wedge of orange.

Hensol Castle Blood Orange Zest Gin

Hensol Castle blood orange gin

Tarquin's Cornish Sunshine Blood Orange Gin

tarquin2

Best alternative to an aperitif

Sweet and tart citrus, rhubarb and berry flavours are balanced by a herbaceous bitterness that brings to mind an Italian-style aperitif such as Campari or Aperol. Botanicals include juniper, coriander seed, liquorice root and angelica root which make this a complex enough drink to neat. If you'd prefer a longer drink we'd recommend trying it as a spritz.

Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin

Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin

Best for wine buffs

This distillery takes shiraz grapes local to the Yarra Valley in Australia where it's based, and steeps them in gin before pressing to release all of the juices. We like it paired with lemon tonic water to balance the flavours of rich berry fruits and elegantly subtle spice, herb and juniper notes.

Lone Wolf London Dry Gin

LoneWolf Gin

This is a citrus-forward London dry gin with an elegant finish provided by the addition of hand-peeled, sun-dried fruit peels. Fragrant pomelo, zippy Persian lime, sweet mandarin and tangy kumquat combine with hints of spice to create a zesty yet smooth, elegant finish. Enjoy with tonic, garnished with a slice of fresh orange and a fresh basil leaf.

How to get a good gin deal

Cyber Monday is one of the biggest sales periods of the year, and while this might have once applied mostly to tech deals, it's now extended to pretty much everything including food and drink.

With so many gins on the market, from old familiar names all the way to new micro distilleries, it's a good idea to do your research on which gin you want before searching for deals.

Many large retailers will have savings available, as well as supermarkets, many of which have special prices available for loyalty card holders. If you're planning on entertaining it might be worth looking at gin bundles as these are often a good place to find a deal.

How do we select gin deals?

Our expert reviews team have years of experience working the biggest annual sales events to find the best deals. Throughout the year, we test and review dozens of products across different categories, and look to find deals on food, drinks and appliances we found impressive during testing.

There are a number of different things we look out for when selecting deals, like how much money the deal is saving and how much this is as a percentage of the original price — the best deals tend to be from 20 per cent off and upwards.

Another important factor is the retailer where the deal is being listed. We advise that you only buy from retailers which you recognise and trust. Remember, if a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. This Cyber Monday we're also seeing many supermarket with food and drink deals that are available only in-store and not online, so if you've got your eye on a specific bottle it's worth having a look while you're doing your weekly shop.
