A dark red cocktail in a tumbler with a twist of orange peel on the rim

25ml bourbon
25ml Campari
(Cynar, an artichoke-based Italian amaro, would also work well)
25ml sweet vermouth
orange twist
to garnish

Method

step 1
Put all the ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir gently until the outside of the glass is very cold, then strain into an old fashioned glass or tumbler and garnish with an orange twist.
